NR (Natural Rubber) Coupling Elastomers

Natural rubber (NR) is the most elastic general-purpose elastomer we mold. It has the highest tensile and tear strength of the common rubbers, damps shock, vibration and torsional oscillation better than NBR, SBR or PU, and bonds strongly to metal inserts - which is why it is our first choice for shear-loaded blocks, rubber rings and pin-and-bush sleeves. Its limit is resistance to oil, ozone and weathering: for oily duty choose NBR, for outdoor or hot-water service choose EPDM.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything buyers ask before ordering coupling elastomers from our Shanghai factory.

What is NR and when is it the right choice?

NR (natural rubber) is the most elastic general-purpose rubber: it has the highest tensile and tear strength of the common compounds and damps shock and vibration better than NBR, SBR or PU. Choose NR for shear elements, rubber rings and pin-and-bush sleeves on drives with heavy shock, torsional vibration or alternating load. Where the element touches oil or grease, specify NBR instead; for outdoor, ozone or hot-water duty, specify EPDM.

Which coupling elements can be molded from NR?

We mold NR into H-block shear elements, FCL rubber rings and pin-and-bush sleeves, GR grid coupling elastomers and J-profile gear coupling sleeves. Hardness from 40 to 90 Shore A; compound and hardness are adjusted to your torque, speed and ambient conditions.

What is the temperature range of NR coupling elements?

Typical NR compounds work from about -50 °C to +90 °C, with short excursions to +100 °C. Natural rubber also ages faster than EPDM under ozone, UV and hot air, so for continuous outdoor or hot-water service we recommend EPDM.
